The Detroit Tigers and the Toronto Blue Jays face off in game two of their three game set from Rogers Centre on Saturday.

The Detroit Tigers will look to find some consistency after alternating wins and losses in each of their last four games but opened their series on the right note, taking Friday’s opener by a final score of 5-4. Nick Castellanos went 1 for 4 with a grand slam, while Ian Kinsler added a solo shot while going 2 for 4 at the dish. Dixon Machado added a double while John Hicks, Mikie Mahtook and James McCann each chipped in a base hit in the win. Buck Farmer got the win, improving to 4-2 this season after giving up two runs, one earned, on five hits while walking a pair and striking out three over five innings of work. Shane Greene shut things down in the 9th for his 7th save of the year. Chad Bell will start game two and is 0-2 with a 5.98 ERA and 39 strikeouts this season. This will be Bell’s first career start against Toronto.

Toronto Blue Jays vs. Detroit Tigers - 9/9/17 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Toronto Blue Jays will look to even the set up at one win apiece after dropping the opener on Friday. Jose Bautista hit a solo shot and Richard Urena added a solo blast of his own, his first in the big leagues. Teoscar Hernandez and Kendrys Morales each put up an RBI, with Hernandez joining the aforementioned Bautista as the two Jays to put up a double in the loss. Justin Smoak and Ryan Goins also chipped in base hits of their own in the losing effort. Marcus Stroman took the loss, falling to 11-7 this season after giving up four runs on six hits while striking out six over six innings of work. Brett Anderson will start game two and is 2-3 with a 6.42 ERA and 22 strikeouts this season. In his career, Anderson is 2-3 with a 6.04 ERA and 16 strikeouts against Detroit.

Detroit is 1-4 in their last 5 against the AL East and 8-23 in their last 31 games overall while the under is 6-0 in their last 6 road games. Toronto is 0-4 in their last 4 home games and 5-14 in their last 19 games overall while the under is 43-18-5 in their last 66 games against a left-handed starter. Detroit is 1-8 in the last 9 meetings between these two teams in Toronto.

Toronto probably shouldn’t be favored against anybody right now, but I’m also not about to go out and put my hard earned cash on the Tigers who are sending out basically a spot starter in Bell who get batted around in his first career start last time out. Anderson has looked good in his first two starts as a Jay, but he owns a career ERA north of six against Detroit. I’ll take a shot with the over here as both pitchers could get chased early in this one.
