The Atlanta Braves will look to take the series after evening up the set at one win apiece thanks to their victory in game two on Saturday. Johan Camargo led the way, going 2 for 4 with a two-run home run and three RBIs. Ozzie Albies added an RBI double while Ender Inciarte and Freddie Freeman each had two hits and an RBI to round out the scoring for the Braves in the win. Kurt Suzuki went 3 for 4 at the dish, while Matt Kemp, Lane Adams and Jace Peterson each chipped in a base hit in the winning efforts for Atlanta. Max Fried gave up four runs on six hits while striking out three over 3.2 innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Arodys Vizcaino got the win, improving to 4-3 after throwing a scoreless 9th and becoming the pitcher of record. R.A. Dickey will start the finale and is 9-9 with a 4.14 ERA and 123 strikeouts this season. In his career, Dickey is 11-3 with a 3.03 ERA and 77 strikeouts against Miami.
Miami is 2-11 in their last 13 games overall and 2-11 in their last 13 division matchups while the over is 8-3 in their last 11 road games. Atlanta is 2-5 in their last 7 home games and 6-1 in Dickey’s last 7 home starts against a team with a losing record while the over is 4-1-1 in their last 6 games overall. Miami is 2-6 in the last 8 meetings between these two teams in Atlanta.
Dickey is hard to trust at times, because the knuckleball is very streaky. When it’s on it’s on and when it’s off, the ball is leaving the yard more often than not, as seen by Dickey giving up four earned in three of his last four starts, including his last outing where he yielded six earned in just over four innings of work. However, Dickey has had Miami’s number in his career, and got the win against the Fish last time out and who knows what we will see from Despaigne. Plus, even with their win in the opener, the Marlins are still one of the coldest teams in the league, so I’ll take the Braves for the win in the finale.
