The Milwaukee Brewers and the Chicago Cubs face off in the third and final game of their NL Central division set from Wrigley Field on Sunday.
The Milwaukee Brewers will look to complete the sweep of the Cubs after dismantling Chicago by a final score of 15-2 on Saturday. Hernan Perez led the charge by going 2 for 4 with a two-run homer and a total of five RBIs. Orlando Arcia went a perfect 3 for 3 with a double and three RBIs, while Travis Shaw went 1 for 2 with a double of his own and two RBIs. Starting pitcher Chase Anderson contributed two runs of his own, while Jesus Aguilar added an RBI in the win for the Brew Crew. Speaking of Anderson, he got the win to improve his record to 9-3 this season by throwing five innings of shutout baseball, giving up just one hit while striking out five in the win. Zach Davies will get the nod in the finale and is 16-8 with a 3.77 ERA and 113 strikeouts this season. In his career, Davies is 4-4 with a 4.50 ERA and 35 strikeouts against the Cubs.

The Chicago Cubs will look to salvage a win and avoid the sweep when they take the field on Sunday. Kyle Schwarber hit a pinch-hit solo homer and Leonys Martin added an RBI double of his own, making up the lone two runs in the loss for the Cubs. Ben Zobrist went 2 for 4 while Alex Avila and Rob Zastryzny added a base hit each respectively in the losing effort. Mike Montgomery took the loss to fall to 5-8 this season after allowing four runs on two hits while walking four and striking out a pair over just two innings of work. Kyle Hendricks will start the finale and is 6-4 with a 3.29 ERA and 96 strikeouts this season. In his career, Hendricks is 6-3 with a 2.74 ERA and 68 strikeouts against Milwaukee.
Milwaukee is 18-8 in Davies’ last 26 starts and 7-1 in their last 8 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 24-5-1 in their last 30 road games. Chicago is 14-5 in Hendricks’ last 19 division starts and 9-2 in their last 11 home games while the under is 20-6-1 in Hendricks’ last 27 starts against a team with a winning record. Chicago is 4-1 in Hendricks’ last 5 starts against Milwaukee.
In my eyes, the pitching matchup is even, so with that cancelling out, the Brewers have outplayed the Cubs I the first two games of the set and need these wins much more than the Cubs do. So with that said, I’ll take a shot with the Brewers behind a strong outing from Davies here.
