The Washington Nationals will look to win the series after failing to win game three on Saturday. Michael Taylor led the charge, going 2 for 3 with a two-run homer and three RBIs, while Howie Kendrick added a solo shot of his own to round out the scoring for the Nats in defeat. Daniel Murphy, Anthony Rendon and Raudy Reed each added base hits of their own in Washington’s losing efforts. Edwin Jackson gave up all five runs on seven hits while walking three and striking out five over just 3.1 innings of work, taking the loss to fall to 5-5 this season. A.J. Cole will start the finale and is 2-4 with a 4.01 ERA and 31 strikeouts this season. In his career, Cole is 1-1 with a 4.11 ERA and 17 strikeouts against Philadelphia.
Philadelphia is 3-7 in Lively’s last 10 starts and 26-60 in their last 86 road games while the under is 5-2 in Lively’s last 7 road starts. Washington is 5-1 in their last 6 games overall and 73-35 in their last 108 division matchups while the over is 6-2 in their last 8 home games. Philadelphia is 2-5 in the last 7 meetings between these two teams in Washington.
Sure, Washington is the better team and will be in the playoffs come October, but each of the first three games of this series have been decided by one run, and I’m not saying that the Phillies are going to win this one outright, but the starting pitching matchup doesn’t warrant this kind of price, so I think the plus on the run line holds some value here given the series so far, so I’ll take a stab with the Phillies plus the run.
