The Seattle Mariners and the Texas Rangers  take the field  in Monday  MLB baseball.

The Seattle Mariners have not been eliminated from the postseason but the team is a game below .500 following a 5-3 defeat to the visiting Los Angeles Angels on Sunday afternoon. Mariners starter Erasmo Ramirez tossed a solid game with a pair of runs allowed through 6.2 innings pitched where he struck out seven before Nick Vincent was charged with three runs in 2/3 of an inning to get the loss. The M’s offense did their damage on eight hits and a base on balls with Jean Segura clubbing a solo homer while Mike Zunino and Ben Gamel each recorded RBI’s. The Seattle Mariners have named Ariel Miranda as Monday’s outing at the Texas Rangers. Miranda did not receive a decision in a 3-1 loss to the Houston Astros last time out with an unearned run given up  on no hits and six walks over fix innings of work.

Texas Rangers vs. Seattle Mariners - 9/11/17 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Texas Rangers looked like a Wild Card challenger a short week ago but fast forward to the present and the team is alive on paper but that’s as far as it goes as the team is still fighting to get above .500. The Rangers were manhandled by the visiting New York Yankees 16-7 on Sunday with the pitching unable to get outs. Texas starter AJ Griffin was charged with five runs over three innings while Tyson Ross and Nick Martinez gave up four runs apiece. Texas totaled ten hits and walked seven times with Robinson Chirinos going deep and scoring twice while Shin-Soo Choo knocked in a pair. Left hander Cole Hamels toes the rubber for the Texas Rangers with the Seattle Mariners paying a visit on Monday. Hamels comes off of a 5-4 defeat at the Atlanta Braves with all five runs (four earned) plated on six hits and two walks in six frames.

The Seattle Mariners are 10-4 in their last 14 Monday games. The over is 7-1-2 in Texas last 10 on grass and the over is 5-1-2 in Texas last 8 overall while Texas are 4-10 in their last 14 Monday games. Seattle are 3-9 in the last 12 meetings in Texas and the over is 10-4 in the last 14 meetings in Texas.

I don’t think either team has enough punch for a final playoff push so I’ll side with the better pitcher…
