The Atlanta Braves and the Washington Nationals meet in game one of a three game NL East division set from Nationals Park on Tuesday.
The Atlanta Braves will look to keep some momentum going after winning four of their last 5 games, including a 10-8 extra innings win over the Marlins in their series finale on Sunday to give Atlanta the series win. Tyler Flowers led the team, going 3 for 6 with three RBIs, while Lane Adams went 1 for 2 with a home run and two RBIs. Johan Camargo and Rio Ruiz each chipped in two RBIs, while Ozzie Albies added an RBI of his own to round out the scoring for Atlanta in the win. Nick Markakis and Matt Adams each added a double while Ender Inciarte and Freddie Freeman each chipped in a base hit in the winning effort for the Braves. R.A. Dickey went five innings, giving up five runs on six hits while walking three and striking out five over five innings of work. Arodys Vizcaino got the win after throwing two innings of scoreless relief, striking out a pair to improve to 5-3 this season. Julio Teheran will start the opener and is 10-11 with a 4.77 ERA and 131 strikeouts this season. In his career, Teheran is 5-4 with a 4.12 ERA and 86 strikeouts against Washington.

The Washington Nationals will look to keep their momentum going after winning their four game series with the Phillies, including a 3-2 win in the series finale to give the Nats their 11th win in their last 15 games. Trea Turner went 2 for 4 with a solo homer and a triple, while Adrian Sanchez and Victor Robles each recorded a double and an RBI in the win for the Nats. Wilmer Difo also contributed a double as part of a 2 for 4 day at the dish for Washington. Stephen Strasburg got the win, tossing eight innings of two hit, shutout baseball, striking out ten to improve to 13-4 this season, while Ryan Madson notched his 1st save as a National and 2nd save of the season despite giving up a pair of runs in the top of the 9th. Gio Gonzalez will start game one and is 14-6 with a 2.50 ERA and 163 strikeouts this season. In his career, Gonzalez is 4-10 with a 5.09 ERA and 123 strikeouts against Atlanta.
Atlanta is 5-2 in Teheran's last 7 division starts and 4-1 in their last 5 games overall while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games following a win. Washington is 7-1 in Gonzalez's last 8 starts and 7-1 in their last 8 home games while the under is 18-7-6 in their last 31 games overall. Washington is 4-1 in Gonzalez's last 5 home starts against Atlanta.
Gonzalez has had his fair share of struggles against the Braves, but he has been probably the most underrated pitcher in the Nationals’ rotation, allowing three runs or less in 14 of his last 16 starts. Teheran has pitched better and won his last three starts, but I think the Nationals have more to play for with the Dodgers struggling, Washington has a chance to lock up home field if they can stay hot down the stretch, so I’ll lay the juice with Washington here.
