Out at Angel Stadium on Wednesday, the Houston Astros and the Los Angeles Angels will be continuing their MLB series.
In the Tuesday game, we had quite the pitching battle as the Astros eked out a 1-0 victory. LA managed just two hits in that one.
USA TODAY Sports
For Wednesday’s game, the Astros will be bringing out RHP Lance McCullers. In his 111.0 innings and 7-3 record this year, McCullers has a 3.97 ERA with 122 Ks and 37 BBs.
Houston has some solid hitters this year. Jose Altuve came into this set with 189 hits, 99 runs, 23 homers and 76 RBI while George Springer had 141 hits, 98 runs, 31 homers and 76 RBI. Springer had one hit on Tuesday; Altuve went 0-for-4.
Over on the Angels’ side, they’re going with LHP Tyler Skaggs on Wednesday. In his 63.0 innings and 1-5 record this year, Skaggs has a 4.86 ERA with 60 Ks and 23 BBs.
The Angels have some key bats as well. Andrelton Simmons came into this series on 148 hits, 72 runs, 14 homers and 64 RBI while Albert Pujols brought 130 hits, 48 runs, 21 homers and 94 RBI. Simmons and Pujols combined to go 0-for-6 on Tuesday.
Houston is 4-0 in their last four during game two of a series sand 35-16 in their last 51 Wednesday games. The over is 4-1-1 in the Astros’ last six Wednesday games and Houston is 39-14 in their last 53 road games.
Meanwhile, the Angels are 2-6 in their last eight during game two of a series and the under is 6-1 in the Angels’ last seven during game two of a series. The under is also 6-1 in the Angels’ last seven overall and 6-1 in the Angels’ last six on grass.
McCullers has been on something of a bad streak lately, giving up four earned or more in four of his last five starts. As for Skaggs, he’s given up four or more earned in three of his last four, but did record a quality start in his last outing. I’m going to give a slight edge to the Astros here, but due to the pitching matchup the play is probably the over.
