The Chicago White Sox go on the road to open a series with the Detroit Tigers in Thursday MLB.

The Chicago White Sox are looking for consistency on the mound and at the plate in the final weeks of the season. The White Sox received both Wednesday afternoon in a 5-3 victory at the Kansas City Royals  for win number five of six. Chicago starter Lucas Giolito allowed a run on four hits and three bases on  balls over 6.1 frames before Danny Furquhar gave up a pair of runs in 2/3 of an inning for a blown save. The White Sox totaled ten hits and walked three times with Adam Engel driving in two on a double while Avisail Garcia and Tyler Saladino each scored and drove in a run. The Chicago White Sox open their series at the Detroit Tigers with James Shields on the mound Thursday. Shields comes off of a 13-1 rout of the visiting San Francisco Giants with a run allowed on two hits and a pair of walks over seven innings pitched.

Detroit Tigers vs. Chicago White Sox - 9/14/17 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Detroit Tigers have struggled mightily over the past few weeks as they head towards the end of the year. The Tigers continued to have problems getting the pitching and offense on the same page with Wednesday’s 5-3 defeat at the Cleveland Indians. Detroit starter Buck Farmer absorbed the loss with four runs given up on four hits and a trio of bases on balls with a three run homer surrendered in the first setting the tone. The Tigers offense consisted of seven hits and a pair of walks with Andrew Romine and Jose Iglesias driving in a run apiece while Nicholas Castellanos scored and recorded an RBI. The Tigers have named rookie Chad Bell as Thursday’s starter versus the visiting Chicago White Sox. Bell has made 21 appearances and two starts while going 0-2 with  a 5.79 ERA covering 51.1 innings of work.

Chicago are 14-40 in their last 54 road games and the under is 7-3 in Chicago last 10 Thursday games while Chicago are 20-42 in their last 62 overall. The over is 13-3 in Detroit last 16 Thursday games and the over is 7-2 in Detroit last 9 overall while Detroit are 8-25 in their last 33 games on grass. Chicago are 18-47 in the last 65 meetings in Detroit and the over is 11-5 in the last 16 meetings.

The numbers say there will be plenty of offense here but the White Sox might get to the Tigers pen quickly so I’ll back the better odds…
