The Seattle Mariners could use a win here after splitting their last 10 games. The Mariners have scored 21 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in six of their last 11 games. The Seattle Mariners have won six straight games when scoring more than three runs. Robinson Cano leads the Mariners with 149 hits and 88 RBI while Jean Segura and Nelson Cruz have combined for 284 hits and 149 RBI. The Texas Rangers also need a win after losing five of their last seven games. The Rangers have allowed 21 runs in this series and five or more runs in six of their last eight games. The Texas Rangers have lost eight of their last 12 games when allowing more than three runs. Offensively, Elvis Andrus leads the Rangers with 176 hits and 83 RBI while Shin-Soo Choo and Nomar Mazara have combined for 261 hits and 164 RBI. Andrew Cashner gets the ball, and he is 9-9 with a 3.19 ERA and 78 strikeouts this season. Cashner is 1-3 with a 3.26 ERA and 22 strikeouts in his career against the Mariners.
The Mariners are 17-35 in their last 52 during game 4 of a series, 0-4 in their last 4 Thursday games and 4-1 in Hernandezs last 5 starts. The Rangers are 9-4 in their last 13 Thursday games, 1-4 in their last 5 during game 4 of a series and 7-3 in Cashners last 10 starts with 4 days of rest. The Mariners are 8-2 in Hernandezs last 10 starts vs. Rangers, 4-10 in the last 14 meetings in Texas and the over is 11-5 in the last 16 meetings in Texas.
Hernandez is pitching for the first time since late July and wasn't good in his last two starts we saw him. Meanwhile, Cashner has given up a combined four runs in his last 21 innings and has a 2.23 ERA at home this season along with a 2.08 ERA in two starts this month. Due to Cashner pitching some of the best we've seen from him in quite some time and Hernadez just returning from injury, I have to side with the Rangers at home and the cheap price.
