MLB action comes to Great American Ball Park Friday when the Pittsburgh Pirates visit the Cincinnati Reds.
The Pittsburgh Pirates have never been able to get and stay hot this season and are heading for a sub .500 finish. The Pirates have dropped seven of eight following an 8-2 defeat at the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday where both the arms and bats fell short. Pitt starter Tyler Glasnow had control issues with five runs scoring on four hits and six free passes over 2.2 frames before Angel Sanchez was charged with three runs in an inning. The Pirates attack consisted of ten hits and a walk with Andrew McCutchen going deep and scoring twice while Elias Diaz recorded an RBI. The Pittsburgh Pirates send Chad Kuhl to the hill for his second start against the Cincinnati Reds in 2017. Kuhl comes off of a 4-3 loss at the St. Louis Cardinals with a pair of runs given up (one earned) on two hits and five bases on balls over six innings.

The Cincinnati Reds have shown in 2017 the ability to play with any team, anywhere but doing so consistently has been an issue. The Reds begin their series versus the Pirates off a 5-1 defeat at the St. Louis Cardinals where the team dropped two of three to the surging Cardinals. Both the arms and bats came up short with Cinci starter Amir Garrett giving up four runs on three hits and five bases on balls over four innings that dropped his record to 3-7. The Reds offense was held to six hits and a walk with Scott Shrebler driving in a run and scoring while Joey Votto scored. The Cincinnati Reds kick off their series against the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates with Homer Bailey on the bump. Bailey struggled last time out in a 6-1 defeat at the New York Mets with five runs given up on six hits and three walks over six innings of work.
Pittsburgh are 1-7 in their last 8 overall and Pittsburgh are 1-7 in their last 8 games on grass while Pittsburgh are 7-20 in their last 27 road games. The under is 7-3-1 in Cincinnati last 11 overall and the under is 7-3-1 in Cincinnati last 11 on grass while Cincinnati are 1-7 in Bailey’s last 8 home starts. Cincinnati are 1-7 in Bailey’s last 8 starts versus Pittsburgh and the under is 7-2-2 in Bailey’s last 11 home starts versus Pittsburgh.
Neither team has been a great betting opportunity so I believe a capable Kuhl at plus odds is the best way to play this…
