On Friday up at Coors Field in Denver, the San Diego Padres and the Colorado Rockies will be kicking off their MLB series.
The Padres just finished up against the Twins this week. San Diego lost both games, 16-0 on Tuesday and 3-1 on Wednesday.

On Friday, the Padres will be sending out LHP Clayton Richard. In his 179.0 innings and 7-13 record this year, Richard has a 4.78 ERA with 133 Ks and 52 BBs.
San Diego has a few key hitters this season. Wil Myers leads the way on 126 hits, 72 runs, 27 homers and 70 RBI while Manuel Margot is close behind on 117 hits, 50 runs, 13 homers and 38 RBI.
Over on the Rockies’ side, they’re fresh off a set versus the Diamondbacks. Colorado won the first two games but lost on Wednesday. In the Thursday finale, the Rockies lost big 7-0.
Colorado will be bringing out RHP Tyler Chatwood on Friday. In his 130.1 innings and 7-12 record this year, Chatwood has posted a 4.70 ERA with 108 Ks and 72 BBs.
The Rockies have some notable bats as well. Charlie Blackmon came into Thursday with 196 hits, 129 runs, 34 homers and 89 RBI while DJ LeMahieu had 174 hits, 91 runs and 61 RBI. Blackmon and LeMahieu each went 0-for-3 on Thursday.
The Padres are 1-5 in the last six during game one of a series and 5-1 in Richard’s last six starts. San Diego is also 7-2 in Richard’s last nine Friday starts and 3-7 in Richard’s last 10 road starts.
Meanwhile, the Rockies are 4-1 in their last five games versus a left-handed starter and 12-2 in Chatwood’s last 14 Friday starts. Colorado is also 2-5 in Chatwood’s last seven starts and 10-1 in their last 11 home games following a road trip of seven or more days.
After giving up nine earned over a pair of starts last month, Richard has bounced back with two straight quality starts, three earned combined in 12.0 innings. As for Chatwood, he’s only got two recent starts under his belt but in those he’s given up no earned on nine hits in 8.0 innings. I like Chatwood to keep it going here with a nice start so I’ll take the Rockies for the win.
