The Baltimore Orioles continue their visit to the Big Apple with a Saturday MLB matchup with the New York Yankees.
The Baltimore Orioles have gone from being one of the hottest teams in the game to a struggling squad out of Wild Card contention. The Orioles cold streak continued Thursday in a 13-5 loss at the Yankees where the pitching gave up a ton of runs early. O’s starter Wade Miley was charged with six runs on six hits in 1/3 of an inning before Mike Wright and Richard Rodriguez combined to allow seven runs. The Baltimore attack produced 12 hits and a pair of walks with Jonathan Schoop, Chance Sisco and Trey Mancini smacking solo homers. Gabriel Ynoa makes his second straight start of the season when the Baltimore Orioles take the field with the New York Yankees on Friday. Yona dropped his 2017 debut as a starter in a 4-2 loss at the Cleveland Indians with three runs allowed in 4.2 frames.

The New York Yankees have been applying the pressure to the Boston Red Sox and need the wins to keep stacking up. The surging Yankees kept the pressure on Boston with Thursdays big victory which gave the team wins in eight of eleven. The Yanks received a solid effort on the mound from starter Masahiro Tanaka with three runs (two earned) allowed on ten hits and a pair of walks over 7.1 innings to pick up the win. The Bronx Bombers racked up 14 hits and walked six times with Gary Sanchez and Todd Frazier going deep and combining for five RBI’s while Aaron Judge homered twice, knocked in four and scored three. The New York Yankees have scheduled Luis Severino as the game two starter versus the Baltimore Orioles. Severino comes off of a 3-1 road win against the Texas Rangers where he gave up the only run on a hit and three walks over seven innings.
Baltimore are 3-11 in their last 14 Friday games and the under is 25-10 in Baltimore last 35 road games. The over is 8-1 in Severino’s last 9 starts on grass and the over is 8-1 in Severino’s last 9 starts overall while New York are 10-2 in Severino’s last 12 starts. The over is 16-5 in the last 21 meetings.
The Yankees can’t afford any loss and have to end the season hot while the Orioles will be looking towards the offseason. I’ll back the hot team with their best pitcher…
