MLB comes to AT&T Park Friday when the San Francisco Giants host the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Arizona Diamondbacks were one of the hottest teams in the game a week ago but have since cooled down. The Diamondbacks had lost four of five before back to back victories following Thursday afternoon’s 7-0 win versus the Colorado Rockies. Zona starter Zack Godley improved to 8-7 with five hits allowed along with seven strikeouts over eight innings. The Diamondbacks totaled nine hits and walked five times with JD Martinez going 2-4 with a homer and two runs while AJ Pollock was 2-4 with four runs driven in. The Arizona Diamondbacks send left hander Robbie Ray to the hill to open the series at the San Francisco Giants. Ray comes off of a 3-2 win versus the San Diego Padres with both runs plated on four hits and two BB while striking out 12 in six innings.

The San Francisco Giants are still trying to piece together that elusive hot streak as we enter the twilight of the season. The Giants have dropped seven of ten following a 4-1 loss to the division leading Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday. Early pitching struggles and a lack of runs were a losing combination with SF starter Matt Moore allowing all four runs on six hits and a trio of free passes over 4.1 innings of work that dropped his record to 5-14. The San Francisco offense was held to five hits and zero walks with Jarrett Parker going 2-4 and doubling in Hunter Pence who also went 2-4 with a pair of doubles. Veteran right hander Jeff Samardzija toes the rubber against the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday. Samardzija struggled last time out in a 13-1 loss at the Chicago White Sox with six runs scoring on eight hits including four homers over 5.2 frames.
Arizona are 17-5 in their last 22 overall and Arizona are 17-5 in their last 22 games on grass while Arizona are 7-2 in Ray’s last 9 road starts. The over is 6-1-1 in San Francisco last 8 overall and the over is 6-1-1 in San Francisco last 8 on grass while the over is 9-3 in San Francisco last 12 Friday games.
Samardzija could have a bunch of wins because he has pitched well at times but I’ll back the Diamondbacks who haven’t wrapped up the top Wild Card yet…
