MLB comes to Minute Maid Park when the Seattle Mariners take the field with the Houston Astros on Sunday.

The Seattle Mariners are one of several teams where their Wild Card hopes are hanging by a thread. The Mariners thread got a bit thinner following Saturday’s 8-6 defeat at the Houston Astros where some late offense couldn’t overcome the pitching. M’s starter Erasmo Ramirez was charged with six runs on eight hits and three BB over four frames to fall to 5-6 while Nick Vincent and Ryan Garton allowed a run apiece. Seattle logged ten hits and walked three times with Jean Segura and Mitch Haniger both going deep and scoring two times each while Robinson Cano drove in a pair. The Seattle Mariners have scheduled Andrew Moore to start against the dangerous Houston Astros on Sunday. Moore faced the Astros in his last outing in a 5-3 defeat where he gave up a pair of runs on three hits and two bases on balls over six frames.

Houston Astros vs. Seattle Mariners - 9/17/17 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Houston Astros have wrapped up everything in the American League West but I’m sure the team wants to keep winning heading in to the postseason to bring  plenty of momentum in to the equation. The Astros did just that Saturday with plenty of early offense being enough to overcome poor pitching out of the pen. Stros starter Dallas Keuchel improved to 13-4 with a run plated on four hits and two BB before Francisco Martes turned in an ugly performance with four runs given up without recording an out. Houston pounded out 12 hits and walked three times with Carlos Beltran, Josh Reddick and George Springer each driving in two runs. The Houston Astros have named Justin Verlander as Sunday’s starter versus the Seattle Mariners. Verlander defeated the Los Angeles Angels on the road 1-0 last time out with one hit and one walk allowed while striking out nine in eight innings of work.

The under is 8-3 in Seattle last 11 overall and the under is 8-3 in Seattle last 11 on grass while Seattle are 3-7 in their last 10 road games. The over is 26-7-2 in Houston last 35 Sunday games and the under is 9-4-1 in Houston last 14 home games.

I think the Astros want to keep winning with Verlander who could play a big role once the playoffs begin…
