For the Sunday game, the Diamondbacks will be going with RHP Taijuan Walker. In his 143.2 innings and 9-7 record this year, Walker has a 3.32 ERA with 130 Ks and 54 BBs.
Arizona has some solid bats this season. Coming into the weekend, Paul Goldschmidt managed 158 hits, 107 runs, 34 homers and 113 RBI, while David Peralta had 143 hits, 74 runs, 13 homers and 49 RBI. Peralta had a hit and a run on Saturday; Goldschmidt popped a two-run homer.
Over on the Giants’ side, they’re going with RHP Chris Stratton on Sunday. In his 42.0 innings and 2-3 record this year, Stratton has a 4.07 ERA with 38 Ks and 23 BBs.
San Francisco has some notable bats as well. Buster Posey brought 144 hits, 56 runs, 12 homers and 61 RBI into the weekend; Joe Panik had 134 hits, 53 runs, 10 homers and 49 RBI. Posey came up empty on Saturday; Panik had one hit.
The Diamondbacks are 6-0 in the last six during game three of a series, and 3-7 in their last 10 Sunday games. Arizona is also 4-1 in Walker’s last five starts and 9-3 in Walker’s last 12 starts versus the NL West.
Meanwhile, the Giants are 3-7 in their last 10 during game three of a series and 8-20 in the last 28 Sunday games. The under is 3-1-1 in the Giants’ last five during game three of a series and 1-5 in their last six home games.
Walker has been on a pretty nice run lately. Over his last five starts, he’s allowed just four earned and has managed three quality starts. As for Stratton, he’s given up five earned on 12 hits over is last 10.1 innings. Walker has been throwing pretty well and I like him to continue here. I’ll take the Diamondbacks.
