The Chicago White Sox look to play spoiler after splitting their last 12 games. The White Sox have scored 17 runs in their last three games and five or more runs in seven of their last 14 games. The Chicago White Sox have won nine of their last 11 games when scoring more than two runs. Jose Abreu leads the White Sox with 182 hits and 100 RBI while Avisail Garcia and Tim Anderson have combined for 313 hits and 135 RBI. James Shields gets the ball, and he is 4-7 with a 5.40 ERA and 95 strikeouts this season. Shields is 6-4 with a 3.13 ERA and 85 strikeouts in his career against the Angels.
The Angels are 1-4 in their last 5 during game 1 of a series, 1-5 in their last 6 road games and 2-5 in their last 7 road games vs. a team with a losing record. The White Sox are 4-1 in their last 5 home games, 5-2 in their last 7 Monday games and 1-6 in Shields' last 7 starts vs. American League West. The Angels are 2-6 in the last 8 meetings in Chicago, 7-0 in the last 7 meetings and the under is 7-2-1 in the last 10 meetings.
I'm not a big fan of Nolasco, as he's hit hard often and usually pitches his team out of games, but he's been better recently for the most part and the bottom line is the Angels need to pretty much win out to have any chance of stealing that wild card spot in the final week. There's no room for errors. The White Sox have to be counting the days until the offseason and Shields hasn't been any better this season. So, I'll take my chances with a team that still has something to play for in a battle between two hittable pitchers.
