For the Wednesday game, the Rays will be bringing out RHP Matt Andriese. In his 81.0 innings and 5-4 record this year, Andriese has a 4.44 ERA with 73 Ks and 26 BBs.

The Rays have a few hitters of note this year. Corey Dickerson came into this set with 159 hits, 81 runs, 26 homers and 61 RBI while Evan Longoria posted 157 hits, 69 runs, 19 homers and 83 RBI. Longoria went 0-for-3 on Tuesday; Dickerson sat out.

Over on the Yankees side, they’re going with RHP Luis Severino on Wednesday. In his 187.1 innings and 13-6 record this year, Severino has a 3.03 ERA with 221 Ks and 50 BBs.

The Yankees have a few notable bats as well. Brett Gardner came into Tuesday with 154 hits, 94 runs, 20 homers and 62 RBI while Didi Gregorius posted 150 hits, 71 runs, 25 homers and 87 RBI. Gardner appeared in a pinch-hit role on Tuesday, but Gregorious got the night off.

The Rays are 2-5 in their last seven Wednesday games, and 2-5 in Andriese’s last seven starts versus the AL East. Tampa is also 0-4 in Andriese’s last four road starts and 0-6 in Andriese’s last six starts.

Meanwhile, the Yankees are 4-1 in their last five during game two of a series and 5-2 in their last seven Wednesday games. New York is also 6-0 in Severino’s last six Wednesday starts and 12-2 in Severino’s last 14 starts.

After a couple of bad starts, Andriese has been solid lately with five earned on 12 hits over his last 10.1 innings. As for Severino, he had a run of six quality starts broken by the Twins in his last outing, giving up three earned on five hits in 3.0 innings. I like Severino to bounce back here in his playoff tune-up, so I’ll take the Yankees.
