The Baltimore Orioles and Pittsburgh Pirates faceoff in interleague MLB on Wednesday.
The Baltimore Orioles are struggling to get things going as the season reaches it’s final week. The Orioles chance at consecutive wins went by the wayside Tuesday in a 10-1 defeat at the Pittsburgh Pirates where nothing went favorably. O’s starter Kevin Gausmann was charged with six runs on five hits and two free passes over four frames before Jimmy Yacabonis gave up another four runs over two innings. Baltimore was limited to five hits and a base on balls with Chris Davis accounting for the offense with his 26th homer. The Baltimore Orioles are sending Gabriel Ynoa to the bump for Wednesday’s start at the Pittsburgh Pirates. Ynoa defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 3-1 last time out with the lone run given up on five bits and a pair of bases on balls over eight innings of work.

The Pittsburgh Pirates are tying to build some momentum as the season draws to a close. The Pirates have been doing just that with wins in four of five following Tuesday night’s one sided victory versus the visiting Baltimore Orioles. Pitt starter Trevor Williams was at the top of his game with the lone run allowed on three hits and a walk through six innings to pick up the win. The Pirates pounded out eleven hits and walked twice with Andrew McCutchen going 4-4 with a pair of homers, eight RBI’s and four runs while Adam Frazier and Starling Marte combined for five runs. The Pittsburgh Pirates have scheduled Chad Kuhl as Wednesday’s starter versus the visiting Baltimore Orioles. Kuhl comes off of a 4-2 defeat at the Cincinnati Reds were he was charged with all four runs on eight hits including four solo homer runs over 4.2 frames.
The over is 9-2 in Baltimore last 11 on grass and the over is 9-2 in Baltimore last 11 overall while Baltimore are 3-12 in their last 15 games on grass. Pittsburgh are 2-7 in their last 9 Wednesday games and Pittsburgh are 4-13 in their last 17 overall while Pittsburgh are 4-13 in their last 17 games on grass.
Neither team has played well overall but the Pirates have looked good lately so I’ll take a shot with them…
