The Texas Rangers had hoped to make a run at the second Wild Card but fell off the pace and head in to the final series with nothing at stake. The Rangers begin the last series of 2017 off of a 12-2loss versus the American League West champion Houston Astros. Texas starter Nick Martinez was charged with six runs on ten hits through five innings to absorb the loss while Tony Barnette gave up another five runs on four hits including two homers in just 1/3 of an inning. The Rangers posted eight hits and did not walk with Willie Calhoun and Drew Robinson clubbing solo homers.Right hander Miguel Gonzalez toes the rubber for the Texas Rangers for his second straight start versus the Oakland Athletics. Oakland are 7-2 in their last 9 overall and Oakland are 7-2 in their last 9 games on grass while the under is 6-2 in Oakland last 8 road games. The under is 7-3 in Texas last 10 overall and the under is 7-3 in Texas last 10 on grass.
I like the way Gonzalez has thrown the ball but the Athletics have been playing better baseball. The bottom line is check the lineups and see who is playing and then think twice about betting…
