The New York Mets visit the Philadelphia Phillies in a National League East MLB matchup Friday.

The New York Mets have been trying to head in to the offseason playing well and have accomplished that goal so far with three consecutive victories. The Mets put everything together in downing the visiting Atlanta Braves 7-1 on Wednesday night. New York starter Robert Gsellman gave up the lone run on six hits and a base on balls through six innings to end his year with an 8-7 record. The Mets attack consisted of seven hits and ten walks with Dominic Smith clubbing a three run bomb while Travis d’Arnaud knocked in three. Right hander Matt Harvey toes the rubber for the New York Mets in the series opener at the Philadelphia Phillies. Harvey has struggled in back to back outings where he has given up a combined 12 runs on 19 hits and six bases on balls over 7.1 frames.

Philadelphia Phillies vs. New York Mets - 9/29/17 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Philadelphia Phillies enter the last series of the season playing well with both the arms and bats contributing. The Phillies have won three of four after a 7-5 victory versus the visiting Washington Nationals. Phils starter Mark Leiter struggled with all five runs allowed on eight hits and a trio of walks over 4.1 innings but five relievers tossed scoreless baseball to save the day. The Philadelphia offense totaled nine hits and walked seven times with Jorge Alfaro going 2-3 with two RBI’s while Aaron Altherr was 2-4 with two runs and a pair of runs driven in. The Philadelphia Phillies open their series versus the visiting New York Mets with Ben Lively on the mound. Lively hopes to rebound from a 7-2 loss at the Atlanta Braves where he was charged with six runs on eight hits and a pair of walks in five frames.

New York are 10-3 in their last 13 Friday games and New York are 5-16 in their last 21 road games while the over is 13-5 in New York last 18 road games. Philadelphia are 18-37 in their last 55 Friday games and Philadelphia are 4-9 in Lively’s last 13 starts while Philadelphia  are 4-9 in Lively’s last 13 starts on grass. New York are 6-2 in Harvey’s last 8 starts versus Philadelphia and New York  are 47-20 in the last 67 meetings.

I think Lively is the better option on the mound with Harvey having tremendous issues so perhaps something small on the Phillies…
