The Baltimore Orioles battle the rival Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Park in Saturday MLB.
The Baltimore Orioles are far removed from the postseason and have nothing to play for. The Oriole have been struggling for weeks and continued Friday in a 7-0 defeat at Tampa Bay for their 8th loss in eleven contests. Nothing on the mound or at the plate went favorably for the O’s with starter Wade Miley charged with four runs on five hits and five free passes over four frames before Chris Tillman gave up three runs through two inning’s. The Baltimore offense was limited to four hits and a pair of walks with Manny Machado reaching base twice on a double and walk. The Baltimore Orioles send career reliever Miguel Castro to the hill Saturday for his first ever start. Castro has gone 3-2 with a 3.29 ERA over 63 innings this season.

The Tampa Bay Rays are similar to Baltimore in that their postseason dreams have been a thing of the past for awhile. The Rays have won back to back contests following Friday night’s victory versus the visiting Orioles. TB received stellar performances on the mound and the plate with starter Jake Odorizzi tossing four shutout innings before four relievers kept Baltimore off the scoreboard. Tampa Bay did their damage on seven hits and ten bases on balls with Logan Morrison going solo while Evan Longoria clubbed a two run bomb followed by Curt Casali with a run and RBI. The Tampa Bay Rays will be sending Chris Archer to the bump to oppose the Baltimore Orioles for his second straight start. Archer has gone 9-12 in 33 starts with 4.18 ERA in 2017.
Baltimore are 7-19 in their last 26 overall and Baltimore are 20-42 in their last 62 road games. Tampa Bay are 1-9 in their last 10 Saturday games and the under is 6-2 in Tampa Bay last 8 home games while the under is 19-9 in Tampa Bay last 28 on astroturf. The over is 7-2 in the last 9 meetings in Tampa Bay.
I know Archer has been struggling versus the Orioles but this is setting up as a reliever by committee situation for the Orioles…
