The Chicago White Sox end the regular season with on the road with the Cleveland Indians in a Sunday MLB tilt.
The Chicago White Sox haven’t had good season by any stretch of the imagination but I don’t think the team has given up when there was nothing to play for. We saw that in a 2-1 victory at the Cleveland Indians on Saturday as Chicago starter Carson Fulmer upped his record to 3-1 with the lone run allowed on three hits and a pair of walks over five frames before five relievers held the Indians attack at bay. The White Sox logged eight hits and walked twice with Kevan Smith driving in both runs while Jose Abreu and Avisail Garcia scoring. The Chicago White Sox give Chris Volstad his second straight start when he faces the Cleveland Indians for the first time on Sunday. Volstad is 1-1 on the season after taking the loss in a 9-3 defeat at the Los Angeles Angels where he allowed six runs in five frames.

The Cleveland Indians have been the hottest team in baseball after the All Star break so losing hasn’t happened often. The Indians absorbed a rare loss to the visiting White Sox on Saturday night with the offense unable to generate much of anything. Tribe starter Corey Kluber gave up a run on six hits through five innings pitched for a no decision with Mike Clevinger allowing a run in an inning to get the loss. Cleveland was held to three hits and four bases on balls with Francisco Lindor driving in Yan Gomes with the only run. Josh Tomlin has been named the starter against the visiting Chicago White Sox for Sunday’s season finale’. Tomlin comes in off of an 8-6 loss to the Minnesota Twins with four runs given up on eight hits through 3.2 innings of work.
The Chicago White Sox are 15-38 in their last 53 road games. Cleveland are 42-9 in their last 51 overall and Cleveland are 41-10 in their last 51 games on grass while the under is 10-4 in Cleveland last 14 home games.
No line is out but neither pitcher is a favorite of mine. Perhaps something on the over or walk away…
