The New York Yankees travel to the Cleveland Indians for game one of the ALDS in Thursday MLB.
The New York Yankees defeated the visiting Minnesota Twins 8-4 on Tuesday night to advance to the ALDS to face the Cleveland Indians on Thursday. The Yankees can thank the offense and bullpen as starter Luis Severino was tagged for three runs on four hits and a walk including a pair of home runs to exit after just 1/3 of an inning while Chad Green gave up a run in two frames before three relievers put up zeros. The Yanks did their damage on eight hits and five bases on balls with Brett Gardner leaving the yard and scoring three while Aaron Judge homered, drove in two and scored three followed by Didi Gregorius who clubbed a three run bomb. New York has named right hander Sonny Gray as Thursday's starter versus Clveland. In 27 starts, Gray has gone 10-12 with a 1.20 WHIP and 3.54 ERA.

The Cleveland Indians were white hot for the majority of the second half of the season to run away with the American League Central crown. Cleveland finished at 102-60 as they begin their bid for a second straight appearance in the World Series. The Indians scored almost at will at times over the final few months of 2017 with a .263 batting average resulting in just over five runs for the number six offense in the game. The Tribe connected on 212 homers and stole 88 bags so the team did a little of everything to possess one of the more feared offenses in the game. As good as Cleveland was at the plate, they were even better on the mound with the top ranked pitching staff posting a 3.30 ERA to make this team dangerous from top to bottom. The Indians give the ALDS game one start to Trevor Bauer who has gone 17-9 with a 4.31 ERA over 31 starts.
