MLB returns to Minute Maid Park for game two of the ALDS with the Houston Astros hosting the Boston Red Sox.
The Boston Red Sox were feeling confident in game one of the ALDS with strikeout machine Chris Sale on the hill Thursday. However, the Red Sox lefty and the offense struggled in an 8-2 defeat at Minute Maid Park. Sale was charged with seven runs on nine hits including three long balls over five frames to absorb the loss. The Boston attack consisted of eight hits and a pair of bases on balls with Sandy Leon and Rafael Devers driving in runs while Mookie Betts and Mitch Moreland scored. The Boston Red Sox are sending Drew Pomeranz to the bump to oppose the Houston Astros in game two of the ALDS. Pomeranz is enjoying a career type season with a 17-6 record and 3.32 ERA in 32 starts.

The Houston Astros have posted some impressive numbers at the plate in 2017 and we saw that potential carry over in to game one of the ALDS on Thursday. The Astros were just as impressive on the mound with veteran Justin Verlander allowing both runs on six hits and two free passes through six innings of work to get the win. The Stros pounded out 12 hits and walked twice with the power game taking center stage. Alex Bregman smacked a solo homer while Jose Altuve clubbed a trio of long balls. Marwin Gonzalez and Brian McCann knocked in two runs apiece as Houston scored early and often. The Houston Astros have named Dallas Keuchel as Friday’s starter in game two of the ALDS versus the Boston Red Sox. Keuchel has gone 14-5 with a 2.90 ERA covering 23 outings.
Boston are 19-7 in their last 26 road games and under is 9-4-1 in Boston last 14 playoff road games and Boston are 8-2 in Pomeranz’s last 10 starts on grass. Houston are 11-2 in their last 13 home games and Houston are 10-2 in their last 12 Friday games and over is 6-2 in Houston last 8 overall. Over is 10-4 in the last 14 meetings.
Pomeranz has been dominated at times but Keuchel has been really tough at home. I’ll take Keuchel and the Astros offense to take a 2-0 series lead…
