The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Arizona Diamondbacks face off in game three of the NLDS from Chase Field on Monday night.
The Los Angeles Dodgers will look to complete the sweep of Arizona after taking game two by a final score of 8-5 on Saturday. Austin Barnes and Yasiel Puig each notched a pair of RBIs, with Barnes going 2 for 3 with a double while Puig went 3 for 4 at the dish. Logan Forsythe went 3 for 5 with an RBI while Chris Taylor chipped in an RBI of his own in the win. Corey Seager, Justin Turner and Curtis Granderson each logged a base hit in the winning effort for L.A. Rich Hill gave up two runs on three hits while walking three and striking out four over four innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Kenta Maeda logged an inning of relief, striking out a pair for the win, while Kenley Jansen closed out the last two outs in the 8th and all of the 9th for his first save of the postseason. Yu Darvish will start game three and was 10-12 with a 3.86 ERA and 209 strikeouts between the Dodgers and the Rangers in the regular season. In his career, Darvish is 2-0 with a 2.75 ERA and 38 strikeouts against Arizona.

The Arizona Diamondbacks will try to start the climb back out of an 0-2 hole after dropping game two on Saturday. All of Arizona’s damage on the scoreboard was done with the long ball, as Brandon Drury belted a three run homer and Paul Goldschmidt opened the scoring for the D-Backs with a two run shot. Daniel Descalso added a double while J.D. Martinez, Jake Lamb and Ketel Marte all added base hits for the D-Backs in the loss. Robbie Ray went 4.1 innings, giving up four runs on four hits while walking four and striking out six in the loss. Zack Greinke will start game three after going just 3.2 innings in the wild card game, giving up four runs on six hits in that one. In his career, Greinke is 4-4 with a 3.74 ERA and 66 strikeouts against the Dodgers.
Los Angles is 4-0 in their last 4 division matchups and 5-13 in their last 18 road playoff games while the over is 4-1 in Darvish's last 5 division starts. Arizona is 5-1 in Greinke's last 6 division starts and 21-10 in their last 31 division matchups while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall. Los Angeles is 2-6 in the last 8 meetings between these two teams.
Greinke didn’t look good in the wild card game, but at least he has been decent in his postseason career, while Darvish has yet to record a win with an ERA well over five. I wouldn’t be surprised if Darvish stifles Arizona as he did earlier this season, striking out ten in the win, but Greinke has only given up one run in each of his last two starts against the Dodgers, and Arizona’s backs are up against the wall, so I think the D-Backs live to fight one more day with a game three win behind their ace.
