The Washington Nationals head to Wrigley Field to oppose the Chicago Cubs in game three of the NLDS in MLB action on Monday.
The Washington Nationals rebounded from a poor offensive showing in the NLDS opener to log a 6-3 victory on Saturday to even the series 1-1. The Nationals were strong in all areas with starter Gio Gonzalez allowing all three runs on three hits and a pair of walks including two long balls over five frames for a ND before five relievers put up zeros. The Nats offense did their damage on six hits and three walks with Anthony Rendon going solo and scoring twice while Bryce Harper cracked a two run bomb followed by Ryan Zimmerman and his three run jack during a five run 8th inning. The Washington Nationals hand the game three starting assignment to right hander Max Scherzer. Scherzer has enjoyed another strong campaign with a 16-6 record and 2.51 ERA.

The Chicago Cubs appeared to be poised to take a 2-0 lead in the NLDS with a 3-1 lead before the Nationals exploded for five runs in the 8th. Chicago starter Jon Lester allowed a lone run on two hits and two bases on balls through six innings pitched for a no decision when Carl Edwards Jr. and Mike Montgomery combined to allow five runs. The Cubs offense consisted of six hits and three free passes with Wilson Contreras leaving the yard while Anthony Rizzo clubbed a two run homer. The Chicago Cubs have named Jose Quintana as the starter in game three of the NLDS versus the Washington Nationals. Quintana has gone 11-11 overall with a 4.15 ERA split between two clubs.

I have to admit I was surprised the Nationals came to life Saturday and saved the series for now. Despite having Scherzer going I'm still not confident but this is a game that the Nats have to win in my view...
