The Los Angeles Dodgers host game one of the NLCS versus the Chicago Cubs in Saturday MLB.
The Chicago Cubs survived a game five slugfest at the Washington Nationals to capture the NLCS by a 9-8 count on Thursday night. Chicago overcame a 4-1 deficit in the second inning and shaky pitching throughout because of an offense that wouldn’t quit. Cubs starter Kyle Hendricks was charged with four runs on nine hits including a pair of homers through four innings.

Chicago used six relievers and four allowed runs. The Cubbies attack consisted of nine hits and bases on balls with Addison Russell going 2-4 with four runs driven in while scoring with Jon Jay and Kris Bryant each scoring and recording an RBI. Chicago has yet to name a starter the NLCS opener but I think Jon Lester could be a candidate as he didn’t pitch Thursday.
The Los Angeles Dodgers have had the luxury of waiting and resting for an opponent in the NLCS. Los Angeles continued a strong season with a three game sweep of the Arizona Diamondbacks capped off by a 3-1 road win on Monday night. The Dodgers big offense was kept under control so the pitching took over. LAD starter Yu Darvish picked up the victory with the lone run allowed on two hits (solo homer) while striking out seven over five innings before four relievers put up zeros.
The Dodgers offense totaled seven hits and seven walks with Austin Barnes smacking a solo bomb while Cody Bellinger wen 2-4 with a homer and two RBI’s while Chris Taylor scored. Los Angeles has not named a starter but I’d be surprised if it wasn’t Clayton Kershaw as the team would like to squeeze as many starts from him going forward.
Chicago are 6-2 in their last 8 playoff games and Chicago are 9-4 in their last 13 Saturday games and Chicgo are 35-17 in their last 52 overall. Los Angeles are 49-18 in their last 67 home games and Los Angeles are 72-33 in their last 105 overall and Los Angeles are 72-33 in their last 105 games on grass. Under is 9-2 in Kershaw's last 11 starts vs. CHC and under is 20-6 in the last 26 meetings.
I think the better team with the better pitcher is mighty hard to pass up in my view...
