The Chicago Cubs host the Washington Nationals in Wednesday evening MLB action.
The Washington Nationals seemingly had a huge advantage on the mound Monday in game three of their NLDS but it didn’t matter because the offense was nowhere to be found in a 2-1 defeat at the Chicago Cubs which has the team staring at a 2-1 series deficit. Washington starter Max Scherzer allowed a run on one hit and three walks and struck out seven over 6.1 innings for a no decision while Brandon Kintzler allowed a run in the 8th to absorb the loss. The Nats offense consisted of three hits and a base on balls with Ryan Zimmerman smacking an RBI double that scored Daniel Murphy in the 6th inning. The Nationals have named Tanner Roark as Wednesday's starter at the Chicago Cubs. Roark will be making his first appearance in the NLDS after going 13-11 with a 4.67 ERA in 2017.

The Chicago Cubs moved one step closer to another World Series appearance with Monday’s 2-1 victory versus the visiting Washington Nationals as the team can clinch their NLDS with a win on Wednesday. Chicago can thank their pitching and some late offense with starter Jose Quintana allowing an unearned run on two hits and a free pass while striking out seven through 5.2 innings of work. The Cubs pen allowed one hit over the final 3.1 frames too make meager support hold up. The Cubbies offense did their damage on four hits and four walks with Anthony Rizzo and Albert Almora Jr. driving in runs while Ben Zobrist and Leonys Martin scored. The Chicago Cubs are sending right hander Jake Arrieta to the bump to oppose the Washington Nationals in game four of the NLDS. Arrieta has made 30 starts in 2017 and has gone 14-10 with a 1.22 WHIP and 3.53 ERA.
Under is 23-8-4 in Washington last 35 road games and Washington are 14-5 in their last 19 Wednesday games and under is 31-14-7 in Washington last 52 overall. Chicago are 15-4 in their last 19 games on grass and Chicago are 16-5 in their last 21 overall and Chicago are 19-7 in their last 26 home games.
As I said before, Washington won’t win this series as their pitching, hitting or both will cost them and I really hope I’m wrong…
