On Friday evening from SunTrust Park, the Philadelphia Phillies and the Atlanta Braves will be continuing their MLB series.

In the opening day matchup of this series on Thursday, Philly took an 8-5 loss on a walk-off homer. Philadelphia had a few offensive bright spots however, including Cesar Hernandez’s 2-for-5 line with a solo homer.

For the Friday game, the Phillies will be sending out RHP Nick Pivetta for the start. Last year, across his 133.0 innings Pivetta put up an 8-10 record and compiled a 6.02 ERA with 140 Ks and 57 BBs.

Atlanta’s Thursday win came in spectacular comeback fashion, as the team scored six unanswered runs in the last two innings. The dagger came in the ninth on Nick Markakis’ walk-off three-run homer.

Atlanta will be starting right-hander Mike Foltynewicz on Friday. Foltynewicz was able to post 154.0 innings last season, and had a 10-13 record with a 4.79 ERA, 143 strikeouts and 59 BBs to his credit.

The Phillies are 10-22 in their last 32 during game two of a series and 9-23 in their last 32 Friday games. Philadelphia is also 4-0 in Pivetta’s last four starts and 1-4 in Pivetta’s last five starts on Fridays.

Meanwhile, the Braves are 1-4 in their last five during game two of a series and 7-3 in Foltynewicz’s last 10 home starts. Atlanta is also 0-7 in Foltynewicz’s last seven starts and 0-7 in his last seven starts on grass.

Both the Phillies and the Braves are coming off disappointing seasons and will be looking to take a step forward in 2018. All things considered, with Pivetta on the mound—whom the Phillies seem to play fairly well behind—I’m going to have to stick with Philly for the win here.
