The San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers meet Friday in MLB action at Dodger Stadium.

The San Francisco Giants are coming off a big upset opening day in which they defeated Clayton Kershaw 1-0 in game the market gave them little chance to win. The Giants got a solid five innings out of Ty Blach, the bullpen closed the door and a homer from Joe Panik was just enough offense to produce the victory. With the Giants pitching staff banged up to all hell already this year, beating the best pitcher in baseball has to be a major confidence booster moving forward. The San Francisco Giants hope to start a season 2-0 for the second time in the last three years. Johnny Cueto gets the ball, and he was 8-8 with a 4.52 ERA and 136 strikeouts last season. Cueto is 6-8 with a 3.44 ERA and 96 strikeouts in his career against the Dodgers.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. San Francisco Giants - 3/30/18 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Dodgers couldn’t get anything going offensively in their loss, as they struck out 10 times and left nine guys on base. Two of the Dodgers six hits came from their starting pitcher and Yasmani Grandal led the way with two other hits, but the offense was very limited. The good news for the Dodgers is that Kershaw made just one mistake and the rest of the pitching staff gave them a chance to win. Of course, with everybody struggling yesterday, it’s only a matter of time before guys wake up and the onslaught is back on for this talented club. The Los Angeles Dodgers haven’t started an MLB season 0-2 since 2010. Alex Wood gets the ball, and he was 16-3 with a 2.72 ERA and 151 strikeouts last season. Wood is 2-2 with a 5.35 ERA and 36 strikeouts in his career against the Giants.

The Giants are 3-7 in their last 10 Friday games, 4-0 in Cuetos last 4 road starts and 4-1 in Cuetos last 5 starts. The Dodgers are 21-6 in their last 27 Friday games, 10-2 in Woods last 12 home starts and 19-7 in Woods last 26 starts. The Giants are 1-5 in the last 6 meetings in Los Angeles, 2-8 in the last 10 meetings and under is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings.

Alex Wood was one of the better pitchers in the league last season, but that doesn't mean I'm cool with throwing out heavy juice. Johnny Cueto is a much better pitcher than he was last season and should be eager to take on the role as the Giants No. 1 until Bumgarner returns. Also, the last thing you want to see after struggling offensively is a pitcher who hits you with a million different looks and a wacky delivery like Cueto. There's value with the heavy plus money yet again on the Giants.
