The San Diego Padres host game two of their MLB series with the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday.
The Milwaukee Brewers turned to their pitching to squeeze out a 2-1, 12 inning victory at San Diego in the season opener. Milwaukee starter Chase Anderson tossed a one hitter with three walks over six frames before Corey Knubel allowed a run in the 9th to blow the save. The duo of Jeremy Jeffress and Jacob Barnes came to the rescue with three shutout innings to secure the win for the Brewers.

The Brew Crew attack mustered ten hits and a pair of walks with Orlando Arcia and Christian Yelich recording RBI’s.The Brewers give Friday’s start versus San Diego to right hander Jhoulys Chacin. Chacin went 13-10 for the Padres in 2017 with a 3.89 ERA in 32 outings covering 180.1 frames.
The San Diego Padres opened he year on the wrong end of a 12 inning marathon where an outstanding performance on the mound from veteran Clayton Richard went for naught. Richard gave San Diego seven innings of one run ball but Adam Cimber absorbed the loss with a 12th inning run scoring on three hits.
The Padres were limited to six hits and six bases on balls with Freddy Galvis going 2-4 with an run scoring single that plated pinch runner Matt Sczur who stole second base. The Padres are sending rookie left hander Joey Lucchesi to the hill for his major league debut versus Milwaukee. Lucchesi has been with four minor league teams since 2016 and has gone 11-9 with a 1.99 ERA in 39 games including 33 starts.
