The Minnesota Twins and the Baltimore Orioles meet in game two of their three game set from Camden Yards on Saturday.

The Minnesota Twins will look to bounce back after dropping their first game of the season in a 3-2 11-inning loss on Opening day on Thursday. Robbie Grossman hit a pinch-hit two RBI single to tie the game in the 9th to tie the game before falling in extra innings. Brian Dozier, Joe Mauer, Eddie Rosario, Ryan LaMarre, Eduardo Escobar, Max Kepler and Byron Buxton each logged a base hit as no Minnesota player had more than one hit in the loss. Jake Odorizzi threw six innings of two hit shutout baseball, walking a pair and striking out seven over six innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Fernando Rodney gave up the walk-off run to take the loss, falling to 0-1 this season. Kyle Gibson will start game two and was 12-10 with a 5.07 ERA and 121 strikeouts last season. In his career, Gibson is 2-2 with a 5.89 ERA and 30 strikeouts against Baltimore.

The Baltimore Orioles will look for their first series win and to go for the sweep on Sunday after taking the opener on Thursday. Adam Jones hit a solo shot while Caleb Joseph went 1 for 3 with a triple and two RBIs to round out the scoring for the O’s in the win. Manny Machado went 2 for 4 with a double, while Trey Mancini added a base hit of his own in the winning efforts. Dylan Bundy threw seven innings of five hit shutout baseball, striking out seven, not factoring in the decision. Brad Brach gave up a pair of runs for his first blown save of the year, while Richard Bleier ended up with the victory, his first of the year. Andrew Cashner will make his Orioles debut and was 11-11 with a 3.40 ERA and 86 strikeouts last season. In his career, Cashner is 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA and 3 strikeouts against Minnesota.

Minnesota is 8-0 in Gibson’s last 8 starts and 0-4 in their last 4 road games while the under is 5-2 in their last 7 games overall. Baltimore is 6-20 in their last 26 games overall and 5-16 in their last 21 games against a right-handed starter while the over is 8-3 in their last 11 home games. The under is 9-1 in the last 10 meetings between these two teams in Baltimore.

Baltimore stole game one as neither team really had much offense to speak of, and I’ve never really trusted Kyle Gibson as a starter dating back to last season. However, you can’t argue with results as the Twins have won each of Gibson’s last 8 starts. Cashner is a decent pitcher in his own right, but it may take a start or two to get used to things at Camden Yards, and I think Minnesota is a better team than what we saw in the opener, so I’ll take a shot with Minnesota to even the series with a win here.
