The St. Louis Cardinals struggled on the mound and at the plate in a 6-2 loss at the Mets on Saturday. St. Louis starter Michael Wacha took the loss with four runs given up over 4.2 frames with Ryan Sherriff and Sam Tuivalala allowing a run apiece.

The Cardinals mustered seven hits and three bases on balls with Matt Carpenter smacking a solo bomb with Jose Martinez singling in Tommy Pham. Luke Weaver takes the bump for the Cardinals versus the Mets on Sunday afternoon. Weaver made 13 appearances in 2017 including ten starts where he went 7-2 with a 3.88 ERA.
The New York Mets got the job done in all areas Saturday to go 2-0 versus visiting St. Louis. New York starter Jacob deGrom picked up the win with a run allowed over 5.2 innings while striking out seven and three relievers finished the job with a run given up.
The Mets pounded out eleven hits and walked five times with Yoenis Cespedes and Travis d’Arnaud slamming solo homers. Todd Frazier gave New York a boost with a three run double while Asdrubal Cabrera went 3-5 with an RBI and run. Steven Matz toes the rubber for New York against visiting St. Louis on Sunday afternoon. The oft injured Matz made 13 starts a season ago and was 2-7 with a 6.08 ERA.
