Houston Astros vs. Baltimore Orioles - 4/2/18 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

In the Monday game, the Orioles will be rolling out Chris Tillman for the start. In his 19 starts and 1-7 record last year, Tillman managed a 7.84 ERA with 63 Ks in 93.0 innings.

Coming out of the week, Manny Machado was the only Orioles player with multiple hits, posting a double and three total bases. In the Sunday game, Machado had just one of the O’s three hits.

Over on the Astros’ side, they’re fresh off a series versus the Rangers. Houston dropped the Friday game but won Thursday and Saturday. In the Sunday matchup, the Astros won again 8-2.

For Houston on Monday, they’re going with Charlie Morton in the start. Over his 25 starts and 14-7 record last season, Morton had a 3.62 ERA with 163 Ks and 125 hits in 146.2 innings.

Heading into this week, Houston’s hitting leader was Jose Altuve with six hits, two RBI and three runs, while Carlos Correa had five hits, two runs, two doubles, a homer and three RBI. On Sunday, Altuve slapped three hits with two runs.

The Orioles are 7-3 in their last 10 Monday games and 2-8 in their last 10 during game one of a series. Baltimore is also 13-3 in Tillman’s last 16 Monday starts and 1-5 in his last six road starts.

Meanwhile, the Astros are 20-6 in the last 26 home games and 12-4 in their last 16 Monday games. Houston is also 4-1 in Morton’s last five home starts and 35-16 in their last 51 during game one of a series.

All eyes will be on Houston for this one, as they make their triumphant return home after a World Series win last season. The Astros’ fun should continue with Tillman on the mound, as he’s coming off a pretty disappointing season and will have some work to do to get back in the Os fans’ good graces. In any case, I can’t find a whole lot of reasons not to take Houston here.
