We have some NL East action on tap Tuesday as the Washington Nationals take on the Atlanta Braves in game two of their three game set from SunTrust Park.

The Washington Nationals will look to stay hot and remain undefeated after climbing to 4-0 this season with a series opening 8-1 win over Atlanta on Monday. Bryce Harper continued his hot start with a home run and three RBIs to lead the Nets, while Brian Goodwin added a pinch hit and two RBIs. Howie Kendrick went 2 for 5 with a pair of doubles and an RBI while Pedro Severino and Anthony Rendon each added an RBI to round out the scoring for Washington in the win. Wilmer Difo added a double while Trea Turner and Michael A. Taylor added base hits of their own in the winning effort for Washington. Tanner Roark got the win to climb to 1-0 this season after giving up just the one run on four hits while striking out six over seven innings of work. A.J. Cole will start game two and was 3-5 with a 3.81 ERA and 44 strikeouts last season. In his career, Cole is 0-0 with a 15.75 ERA and 1 strikeout against Atlanta.

Atlanta Braves vs. Washington Nationals - 4/3/18 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The Atlanta Braves will look to find consistency after alternating wins and losses in each of their first four games to start the year, including the series opening loss on Monday. Freddie Freeman accounted for the lone Braves RBI while Ender Inciarte, Preston Tucker and Ryan Flaherty each added a base hit of their own to round out the offense for Atlanta as none of the Braves’ four base hits went for extra bases. Sean Newcomb took the loss after giving up six runs, five earned, on five hits while walking four and striking out six over 4.1 innings of work. Julio Teheran will start game two for Atlanta and is 0-0 with a 6.35 ERA and 3 strikeouts this season. In his career, Teheran is 6-4 with a 3.86 ERA and 91 strikeouts against Washington.

Washington is 4-0 in their last 4 road games and 4-1 in Cole’s last 5 road starts while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 division matchups. Atlanta is 5-2 in their last 7 home games and 3-7 in their last 10 division matchups while the under is 5-0-1 in their last 6 games overall. Washington is 39-17 in the last 56 meetings between these two teams and 13-6 in the last 19 meetings in Atlanta.

Cole doesn’t have the greatest numbers against the Braves and having a small sample size isn’t an excuse because Cole’s given up 12 runs, 7 earned, in two appearances against Atlanta. There’s some value to be had with Atlanta’s ace on the mound in Teheran, but the problem is that Teheran doesn’t get much run support as it is, and even though it’s early in the year, you won’t get Washington with low lines like this too often, and given their hot start, I think it can continue for at least one more day so I’ll lay the juice with the Nationals here.
