The Line: San Diego Padres +110 / Colorado Rockies -120 --- Over/Under: 8 See the Latest Odds

The Colorado Rockies and San Diego Padres meet Tuesday in MLB action at Petco Park.

The Colorado Rockies look for a third straight win to get a game above a .500 record. The Rockies pitching staff has found its groove the last couple of games, which wasn’t the case for the most part against the Arizona Diamondbacks. We know the Colorado Rockies can score runs with the best of them, but it’s the pitching that makes the difference, and they’ve won 15 of their last 20 games when allowing four or less runs. Offensively, Charlie Blackmon leads the Rockies with six hits and six RBI while Ian Desmond and Carlos Gonzalez have combined for 11 hits and seven RBI. Kyle Freeland gets the ball, and he was 11-11 with a 4.10 ERA and 107 strikeouts last season. Freeland is 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA and 10 strikeouts in his career against the Padres.

San Diego Padres vs. Colorado Rockies - 4/3/18 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The San Diego Padres are still looking for their first victory after a brutal 0-4 start to the season. The Padres pitching staff has allowed a combined 22 runs in their last three games, a formula that won’t produce many wins with an offense that’s very limited. The San Diego Padres have had their fair share of bad luck over the years, but a potential 0-5 start to the season is something even they haven’t seen in a very long time. Offensively, Eric Hosmer leads the padres with six hits and two RBI while Jose Pirela and Freddy Galvis have combined for 10 hits and four RBI. Tyson Ross gets the ball, and he was 3-3 with a 7.71 ERA and 36 strikeouts last season. Ross is 0-5 with a 3.44 ERA and 53 strikeouts in his career against the Rockies.

The Rockies are 4-1 in their last 5 Tuesday games, 4-9 in their last 13 road games and 2-5 in Freelands last 7 starts. The Padres are 2-5 in their last 7 during game 2 of a series, 0-4 in their last 4 games following a loss and 1-10 in their last 11 overall. The Rockies are 5-2 in the last 7 meetings in San Diego and 10-3 in the last 13 meetings.

Freeland had an ERA of 4.57 and an allowed batting average of .301 on the road last season, so there's certainly value in fading him. However, are you really going to put money on the Padres in their current form with Ross on the hill? Ross allowed 42 earned runs in 49 innings last season and has just 11 starts under his belt since the start of the 2016 season. The Rockies can at least put together enough offense to overcome their pitching issues. Give me the better team and the cheap price.
