We have some NL Central action on Wednesday as the St. Louis Cardinals take on the Milwaukee Brewers from Miller Park in the rubber match of their three game set.

The St. Louis Cardinals will look to bounce back after falling back below .500 after being walked off by a final score of 5-4 in game two on Tuesday. All of St. Louis’ damage on the scoreboard was done via the long ball, with Marcell Ozuna hitting a two-run home run, while Tommy Pham and Dexter Fowler each hit solo shots with Pham hitting 3 for 5 with a double as well while Fowler went 2 for 5 at the dish. Jose Martinez went 3 for 4 while Paul DeJong added a base knock of his own in the losing effort for the Cards. Jack Flaherty went five innings, giving up one run on six hits while striking out nine, not factoring in the decision. Dominic Leone gave up back-to-back homers with 2 outs in the 9th, taking his first blown save and first loss of the year to fall to 0-1. Carlos Martinez will start the finale and is 0-1 with an 8.31 ERA and 5 strikeouts this season. In his career, Martinez is 5-4 with a 2.18 ERA and 91 strikeouts against Milwaukee.

The Milwaukee Brewers will look to finish strong and take the set after their walk-off win on Tuesday. Christian Yelich led the Brew Crew by going 3 for 5 with a double and the game-tying home run, while Ryan Braun went 2 for 5 and went back-to-back with Yelich in the 9th with the game-winning walk-off home run. Travis Shaw and Jonathan Villar each added an RBI to round out the scoring for the Brewers in the win, while Manny Pina also contributed a double. Eric Thames, Orlando Arcia and Domingo Santana each chipped in a base hit in the winning effort as well for Milwaukee. Chase Anderson went just four innings, giving up four runs on eight hits while striking out five, not factoring in the decision. Dan Jennings closed out the top of the 9th, getting the win to improve to 1-0 this season. Jhoulys Chacin will start the finale and is 0-0 with a 10.80 ERA and 1 strikeout this season. In his career, Chacin is 0-5 with a 6.10 ERA and 27 strikeouts against the Cardinals.

St. Louis is 4-10 in their last 14 games overall and 3-8 in their last 11 division matchups while the over is 6-1 in Martinez’s last 7 road starts. Milwaukee is 5-1 in their last 6 games overall and 4-0 in their last 4 game 3 of a series while the under is 49-22-3 in their last 74 games overall. St. Louis is 42-19 in the last 61 meetings between these two teams in Milwaukee.

Milwaukee is definitely worth a look with plus money at home here given their momentum after a rally to beat the Cards on Tuesday. However, Chacin has had zero success against St. Louis in his career, and while Martinez didn’t get off to a great start, he is a much more reliable option than Chacin, who gave up four runs in just 3.1 innings against a below average Padres team. I think we are getting a decent price for a major pitching advantage, so I’ll lay the juice with the Cardinals on the road in this one.
