New York Mets vs. Philadelphia Phillies - 4/4/18 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Phillies will be bringing out RHP Aaron Nola on Wednesday. In his 5.1 innings during his first appearance, Nola put up three hits with one earned in a no-decision.

Heading into this set, Philly’s top hitter was Rhys Hoskins, with five hits, two runs and three RBI. In the Tuesday game, Hoskins managed a 1-for-4 outing.

Over on the Mets’ side, they’re going with Noah Syndergaard on Wednesday. In his 6.0 innings during his lone start this year, Syndergaard had six hits and four earned in a win.

New York’s leading hitter coming into this series was Juan Lagares (five hits), and Yoenis Cespedes had four hits with four RBI.  On Tuesday, Todd Frazier was the big hitter with two hits, a run and an RBI.

Philadelphia is 5-2 in their last seven in game two of a series and 9-3 in Nola’s last 12 starts with nine days’ rest. The Phillies are also 1-4 in Nola’s last five starts versus the NL East and 0-4 in his last four road starts.

Meanwhile, the Mets are 5-1 in Syndergaard’s last six Wednesday starts and 5-2 in his last seven starts during game two of a series. New York is also 1-5 in Syndergaard’s last six starts and 0-5 in his last five starts versus the NL East.

Syndergaard was a little shaky overall in his first outing, but got plenty of help on the other side. Nola pitched better but didn’t quite get the bullpen backup. This should actually be a pretty fun pitching matchup to watch and should come down to whichever starter gets support from the rest of his team. I’m going Mets here even though I’m not thrilled with their offense.
