The Texas Rangers and Oakland Athletics meet Wednesday in MLB action at Oakland Coliseum.
The Texas Rangers look for another nice road victory to climb out of their 2-4 hole. The Rangers scored four runs in Tuesday’s victory and are now 2-0 when scoring more than three runs and 0-4 when scoring three or less runs. The Texas Rangers have the pieces to put offense together, so we should see a little more consistency at some point. Elvis Andrus leads the Rangers with eight hits and two RBI while Joey Gallo and Nomar Mazara have combined for 12 hits and six RBI. Doug Fister gets the ball, and he was 1-0 with a 1.80 ERA and three strikeouts this season. Fister is 8-8 with a 3.28 ERA and 67 strikeouts in his career against the Athletics.

The Oakland Athletics could use a win here after losing four of their last five games. The Athletics just can’t get offense going, as they’ve scored three or less runs in four of their last five games. The Oakland Athletics have a young, explosive lineup but are just 7-15 in their last 22 games when scoring four or less runs. Matt Chapman leads Oakland with eight hits and five RBI while Marcus Semien and Matt Olson have combined for 13 hits and two RBI. Sean Manaea gets the ball, and he was 0-1 with a 1.17 ERA and seven strikeouts this season. Manaea is 3-2 with a 3.98 ERA and 41 strikeouts in his career against the Rangers.
The Rangers are 7-3 in their last 10 Wednesday games, 1-5 in their last 6 vs. American League West and 1-4 in their last 5 road games. The Athletics are 4-0 in their last 4 Wednesday games, 11-5 in their last 16 home games and 5-14 in Manaeas last 19 starts vs. a team with a losing record. The Athletics are 5-2 in Manaeas last 7 starts vs. Rangers, the Rangers are 1-10 in the last 11 meetings in Oakland and 2-9 in the last 11 meetings.
I'm not sure how the Oakland Athletics are still laying juice given their current form. I was high on the A's before the season started, but the offense simply isn't showing up, something we're seeing with a lot of teams early in the year. With that said, I'm not ready to jump off the A's just yet, as the lineup is too talented to continue its struggles, and I'm certainly not backing Fister on the road. Manaea was really sharp in his season debut against the Angels, and maybe he'll actually get some run support this time around. I'll give the A's another chance before I start to seriously question this team.
