For the Wednesday matchup, the White Sox will be bringing out RHP Carson Fulmer for the start. In his seven games (five starts) last season, Fulmer put up a 3.86 ERA with a 3-1 record and 10 earned overall in 23.1 innings.
Heading into the Tuesday game, the Sox’ leading hitter was Jose Abreu with five hits, three runs and two RBI. On Tuesday, Abreu had two hits while Tim Anderson put up a homer and three runs.
Over on the Blue Jays’ side, they’re going with RHP Aaron Sanchez on Wednesday. In his lone start this year, Sanchez put up 5.2 innings, four earned and eight hits in a loss.
Justin Smoak was the Blue Jays’ top hitter coming into Tuesday with seven hits, two runs, two homers and eight RBI. In the Tuesday game, Smoak managed two runs and an RBI.
The White Sox are 6-1 in their last seven in game three of a series and 18-37 in the last 55 Wednesday games. The under is 9-2-1 in Chicago’s last 12 in game three of a series and 3-0-1 in Fulmer’s last four starts overall.
Meanwhile, the Blue Jays are 0-5 in their last five Wednesday games and 1-4 in Sanchez’s last five starts. Toronto is also 1-4 in Sanchez’s last five starts with four days’ rest and 0-6 in his last six starts versus a team with a winning record.
This series is actually a pretty good matchup, and we should see another fun game here. Sanchez had a rough outing in his first game, but that was against the Yankees so his numbers should improve in this one. That said, Fulmer showed some flash last season and I like him to come out strong here and put the Sox in a position to win.
