We have some AL Central action on Friday’s MLB slate as the Kansas City Royals take on the Cleveland Indians in game one of their three game set.

The Kansas City Royals come into this one rested after having the finale of their three game set with Detroit postponed due to extreme cold. The postponement came just as the Royals may have been able to build some momentum after picking up their first win of the year in a 1-0 win on Tuesday. Jorge Soler accounted for the lone run on the board in the win, while Cheslor Cuthbert added a double. Jon Jay, Whit Merrifield, Mike Moustakas and Alcides Escobar added a base knock of their own respectively in the victory. Jake Junis got the win after throwing seven innings of three hit shutout baseball, striking out six while Kelvin Herrera struck out a pair in the 9th for his first save of the year. Danny Duffy will start the opener and is 0-1 with an 11.25 ERA and 5 strikeouts this season. In his career, Duffy is 2-6 with a 4.03 ERA and 58 strikeouts this season.

Cleveland Indians vs. Kansas City Royals - 4/6/18 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Cleveland Indians will look to bounce back after losing consecutive series to start the year, falling to 2-4 with a 3-2 loss in 13 innings to the Los Angeles Angels. Jason Kipnis and Brandon Guyer accounted for the pair of RBIs for the Tribe, while Francisco Lindor went 2 for 6. Yonder Alonso, Rajai Davis and Bradley Zimmer each recorded base hits of their own in the losing effort for the Indians as well. Corey Kluber went seven innings, giving up two runs on three hits while walking a pair and striking out six, not factoring in the decision. Zach McAllister gave up the walk-off homer in the 13th for his first loss of the season. Carlos Carrasco will start game one and is 1-0 with a 7.94 ERA and 4 strikeouts this season. In his career, Carrasco is 9-6 with a 3.58 ERA and 103 strikeouts against Kansas City.

Kansas City is 1-4 in Duffy’s last 5 division starts and 1-4 in their last 5 games overall while the under is 5-2 in their last 7 games against a right-handed starter. Cleveland is 7-0 in Carrasco’s last 7 home starts against a team with a losing record and 22-5 in their last 27 game 1 matchups while the over is 30-11-1 in Carrasco’s last 42 home starts. Cleveland is 8-2 in Carrasco’s last 10 starts against Kansas City and 4-0 in Carrasco’s last 4 home starts against the Royals.

You could argue that both of these teams are due for a breakout considering their respective slow starts to the year, and while Kansas City may be able to keep some momentum going, the Indians are a far better team than their record would indicate. Cleveland has been money with Carrasco on the bump against losing teams and have owned the Royals when he is on the mound. Duffy got rocked in his first start and given his lack of success against Cleveland, I think taking the Indians on the run line is a solid bet on Friday.
