For the Friday game, the Cubs will be brining out RHP Kyle Hendricks. In his debut this year, Hendricks put up six innings and one earned in a no-decision.

Kris Bryant was the top hitter coming into this set for the Cubs, with seven hits and four RBI with four runs and 13 total bases. In the Thursday game, Javier Baez put up two RBI and two runs.

Over on the Brewers’ side, they’re going with Brandon Woodruff on Friday. Woodruff has made a couple of relief appearances this year, totaling 3.1 innings with a 5.40 ERA.

Heading into this set, Christian Yelich led the Brewers with 10 hits, five RBI and six runs, while Travis Shaw and Lorenzo Cain each had nine hits. On Thursday, Jesus Aguilar had a good game with three hits.

The Cubs are 4-1 in their last five Friday games and 6-1 in Hendricks’ last seven starts with six days’ rest. Chicago is also 1-6 in Hendricks’ last seven Friday starts and 8-3 in his last 11 starts in game two of a series.

Meanwhile, the Brewers are 5-1 in their last six Friday games and 1-4 in Woodruff’s last five starts. Milwaukee is also 0-5 in Woodruff’s last five home starts and 12-5 in their last 17 in game two of a series.

The Brewers’ improved offense has already paid some dividends this year, and the team has a handful of genuinely impressive hitters on their hands. The Cubs also have significant weapons on offense, but the team has been pretty “blah” in the early-going, despite the eight-run outburst Thursday. This is a tough call as I think the jury is still out on Woodruff, and Hendricks should deliver a solid start. I’m going to stick with the hometown Brewers in what should be a good game, though.
