Out at Yankee Stadium on Friday, the Baltimore Orioles and the New York Yankees will be continuing their MLB series.
In Thursday’s opener of this set, Baltimore took a win 5-2, scoring all five in the seventh inning.

For the Friday game, the Orioles will be sending out RHP Kevin Gausman. In his first start this year, Gausman had a rough outing with four innings and six runs on Sunday.
The Orioles are led on offense by Jonathan Schoop, who had eight hits and three runs coming into this series. In the Thursday game, Schoop had a hit and a run while Adam Jones managed two hits and a run.
Over on the Yankees’ side, we’ll be seeing the big lefty CC Sabathia take the mound. Though he had a solid debut this season, Sabathia didn’t pitch well versus the Os last year (14 earned in 17 innings).
Heading into this series, Didi Gregorious led the Yankees on eight hits with nine RBI, and Aaron Judge had six hits with five runs and a homer. On Thursday, Judge hit a solo homer and Giancarlo Stanton went 0-4.
The Orioles are 7-22 in their last 29 during game two of a series and 5-16 in their last 21 Friday games. Baltimore is also 1-5 in the last six road games versus a left-handed starter and 0-5 in their last five games versus a left-handed starter.
Meanwhile, the Yankees are 7-1 in their last eight during game two of a series and 14-3 in Sabathia’s last 17 home starts. New York is also 14-4 in Sabathia’s last 18 starts versus the AL East and 13-6 in his last 19 starts versus a team with a losing record.
Baltimore’s been pretty choppy this year so far, but they do have some gems on the roster and can produce runs with semi-regularity when they’re on. Getting through the Yankees’ top half of the order will be tricky however, and with Gausman coming out rough in his debut I’m not terribly confident he’ll make an extended appearance. That said, the combination of Sanchez, Stanton and Judge has been cold overall this year. I’m going Yankees but not feeling so good about it after a tepid offensive showing Thursday.
