TV: FS1, WLS

The Chicago Cubs and Milwaukee Brewers meet Saturday in MLB action at Miller Park.

The Chicago Cubs could use a feel good victory here after losing four of their last six games. The Cubs pitching continues to let them down, as they’ve allowed four or more runs in four of their first seven games. The Chicago Cubs have lost 12 of their last 19 regular season games when allowing more than three runs. Offensively, Kris Bryant leads the Cubs with nine hits and five RBI while Willson Contreras and Addison Russell have combined for 16 hits and three RBI. Yu Darvish gets the ball, and he is 0-0 with a 10.38 ERA and four strikeouts this season. This will be Darvish’s second career game against the Brewers.

USA TODAY Sports

The Milwaukee Brewers look for another victory after splitting their last six games. The Brewers have scored five runs in their last three games and four or more runs in five of their last seven games. The Milwaukee Brewers have won 10 of their last 12 games when scoring at least one run. Lorenzo Cain leads the Brewers with 10 hits and four RBI while Travis Shaw and Christian Yelich have combined for 20 hits and 11 RBI. Zach Davies gets the ball, and he is 0-1 with a 9.53 ERA and six strikeouts this season. Davies is 5-4 with a 3.90 ERA and 44 strikeouts in his career against the Cubs.

The Cubs are 8-3 in their last 11 during game 3 of a series and 12-4 in their last 16 vs. National League Central. The Brewers are 4-1 in their last 5 during game 3 of a series, 7-3 in their last 10 Saturday games and 5-2 in Davies' last 7 starts with 4 days of rest. The Cubs are 6-1 in the last 7 meetings in Milwaukee, 4-1 in the last 5 meetings and the Brewers are 0-4 in Davies' last 4 home starts vs. Cubs.

Darvish was awful in his debut against a Miami Marlins team that doesn't exactly have anyone in their lineup you should fear. We've also seen Darvish struggle multiple games in a row once he gets rocked. In fact, Darvish has now allowed a combined 13 earned runs in his last 7.2 innings of work when you include his last two postseason starts. Davies wasn't good in his debut against the St. Louis Cardinals, and he had an ERA of 5.82 at home last season with an allowed batting average of .313. I don't want to back either one of these pitchers, but there is value with the Brewers and the plus money at home based on the bats heating up.
