Monday MLB pits the Seattle Mariners against the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium.
The Seattle Mariners look to put everything together once again after routing Minnesota 11-4 at Target Field on Saturday. Seattle starter Mike Leake improved to 2-0 with a pair of runs plated through five innings of work.
USA TODAY Sports
The Mariners pounded out 12 hits and walked three times with Guillermo Heredia and Kyle Seager going deep and driving in two. Ryon Healy doubled in three while the M’s saw Dee Gordon drive in two runs with Robinson Cano driving in a run and scoring twice.
Felix Hernandez draws his third start of 2018 when Seattle visits Kansas City on Monday. Hernandez dropped a 10-1 decision at San Francisco where he gave up eight runs on six hits (three homers) over four innings.
The Kansas City Royals have yet to get things pointed in the right direction in the early going and that trend continued in a 3-1 defeat at Cleveland on Sunday. Kansas City starter Jason Hammel tossed six scoreless frames with Tim Hill allowing a run while Brandon Mauer served up a two run bomb in the 8th.
The Royals logged nine hits and a pair of free passes with Jon Jay recording a run scoring single and walking twice while Cam Gallagher scored. Jacob Junis has been named the starting pitcher for Monday’s outing versus the Mariners. Junis was outstanding in a 1-0 victory against Detroit with a three hitter over seven frames.
Over is 6-1-2 in Seattle last 9 road games and Seattle are 11-5 in their last 16 Monday games and Seattle are 19-7 in Hernandez’s last 26 Monday starts. Under is 7-3 in Kansas City last 10 home games and Kansas City are 6-2 in Junis' last 8 starts and under is 7-3 in Junis' last 10 starts overall.
I think Junis can control the Seattle bats and the Royals will put together a viable attack to earn the win. NOTE-seeing Marco Gonzales popping up as Seattle starter?
