The San Diego Padres and Colorado Rockies meet Tuesday in MLB action at Coors Field.

The San Diego Padres look to win back-to-back games for the first time this season. The Padres have scored eight runs in their last three games and four or more runs in five of their last 10 games. The San Diego Padres have won nine of their last 14 games when scoring more than three runs. Jose Pirela leads the Padres with 13 hits and four RBI while Eric Hosmer and Freddy Galvis have combined for 26 hits and seven RBI. Joey Lucchesi gets the ball, and he is 0-0 with a 2.79 ERA and eight strikeouts this season. This will be Lucchesi’s second career game against the Rockies.

USA TODAY Sports

The Colorado Rockies need a victory here to get back to a .500 record. The Rockies have allowed 15 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in seven of their first 11 games. The Colorado Rockies have lost 10 of their last 13 regular season games when allowing more than three runs. Offensively, DJ LeMahieu leads the Rockies with 13 hits and four RBI while Nolan Arenado and Charlie Blackmon have combined for 23 hits and 12 RBI. Tyler Anderson gets the ball, and he is 0-0 with a 7.56 ERA and seven strikeouts this season. Anderson is 1-1 with a 1.50 ERA and 19 strikeouts in his career against the Padres.

The Padres are 7-3 in their last 10 Tuesday games, 29-61 in their last 90 road games and 8-21 in their last 29 overall. The Rockies are 1-4 in their last 5 home games, 4-1 in their last 5 vs. National League West and 4-10 in Andersons last 14 starts vs. National League West. The Padres are 1-5 in the last 6 meetings in Colorado, 1-4 in the last 5 meetings and the over is 3-1-1 in the last 5 meetings.

I'm not trying to pick a side between either of these teams, as the Rockies are having their struggles recently with their pitching staff, and the Padres find creative ways to lose every time they take the yard. Lucchesi and Anderson both had their way when they faced these teams a few days ago, but things usually change when a lineup gets to see the same arm twice within a week. In Coors, I expect the bats to heat up a bit and for there to be a higher run total. I'll side with the over on the total, as it's hard to figure out either these clubs, and I'm certainly not paying a big price with a shaky Rockies team right now.
