The Pittsburgh Pirates lock horns with the Chicago Cubs in an MLB tilt on Wednesday.
The Pittsburgh Pirates hot start to 2018 continued with an 8-5 win at Wrigley Field on Tuesday. Pittsburgh starter Ivan Nova picked up the win with three runs scoring on seven hits over seven frames with Edgar Santana giving up two runs in 2/3 of an inning.

The Pirates racked up 12 hits and two BB with Starling Marte going solo and scoring twice while Francisco Cervelli went 3-4 with a homer and three RBI’s. Corey Dickerson gave the Buccos three hits, two RBI’s and two runs while Josh Bell went 2-5 with a pair of runs and knocked in one.
The Pirates give Wednesday’s starting assignment to Steven Brault for his third outing of the year. Brault comes off of a 5-2 win versus Cincinnati with a run scoring on three hits and four BB in five frames.
The Chicago Cubs fell behind early Tuesday and their late rally fell short against the rival Pirates. Chicago starter Tyler Chatwood was charged with five runs on nine hits through five frames to fall to 0-2 while Mike Montgomery gave up three runs in two innings.
The Cubs offense consisted of ten hits and two bases on balls with Javier Baez slugging a pair of solo homers. Jason Heyward gave Chicago two RBI’s while Kyle Schwarber went 2-4 with a run driven in and a run scored.
Left hander Jon Lester faces the Pirates for the first time this season. Lester comes in off of an 8-0 victory at Milwaukee with three hits and a walk allowed through six shutout innings.
Pittsburgh are 9-2 in their last 11 overall and are 9-2 in their last 11 games on grass and under is 19-7-1 in Pittsburgh last 27 road games. Chicago Cubs are 7-2 in their last 9 Wednesday games and are 10-4 in their last 14 home games and over is 9-2 in Lester’s last 11 starts overall. Pittsburgh are 6-13 in the last 19 meetings in Chicago.
The matchup on the mound favors the veteran Lester but if I were going to bet this I think a shot at the huge plus odds with the hot Pirates is what I would do…
