MLB action comes to Progressive Field Wednesday where the Cleveland Indians host the Detroit Tigers.
The Detroit Tigers had their chance to take down the Indians on Tuesday but the offense couldn’t get a few runs. Matthew Boyd tossed seven solid innings for Detroit with a solo homer allowed before Alex Wilson served up a solo jack in the 8th to absorb the loss.

The Tigers mustered six hits and a pair of walks with Jeimer Candelario ripping three doubles and driving in Victor Reyes in the 7th. Detroit has named Jordan Zimmermann as Wednesday’s starter at Progressive Field. Zimmermann did not receive a decision last time out in a 9-7 win at the White Sox where he was charged with six runs on nine hits in 4.1 frames.
The Cleveland Indians showed why they are the favorite to win the American League Central on Tuesday with their ability to win with the bats or arms. Cleveland received five scoreless frames from Josh Tomlin with Tyler Olsen giving up the lone run while four relievers tossing 3.2 innings of shutout baseball.
The Indians were limited to just four hits and a walk with Jose Ramirez and Roberto Perez supplying the offense with solo homers while each added singles. The Indians send Carlos Carrasco to the bump for his third start of 2018. Carrasco improved to 2-0 with a 3-2 decision versus Kansas City with both runs allowed on five hits through six innings.
Detroit are 16-44 in their last 60 games on grass and are 17-46 in their last 63 overall and are 9-20 in their last 29 road games. Cleveland are 40-12 in their last 52 overall and are 40-12 in their last 52 games on grass and are 6-2 in their last 8 Wednesday games. Cleveland are 11-1 in Carrasco’s last 12 starts vs. Detroit and Detroit are 11-31 in the last 42 meetings.
The numbers favor the Indians on the hill with Carrasco and the bats hopefully awake and do some damage…
