Wednesday MLB features the red hot Houston Astros taking the field at the Minnesota Twins.

The Houston Astros an their powerhouse offense fell to Minnesota 4-1 on Tuesday in just  their third loss. Houston starter Dallas Keuchel gave up three runs  on five hits and four BB through four innings to absorb the loss.

The Astros were limited to seven hits and five free passes with Jake Marisnick driving in Josh Reddick in the second for their only run. Lance McCulllers Jr. looks to get back in the win column at Minnesota on Wednesday. McCullers comes off of a 4-1 defeat versus San Diego with three runs scoring on seven hits in five frames.

The Minnesota Twins turned to their pitching to control the potent offense of the Astros and the bats held their own. Minnesota starter Jake Odorizzi allowed the lone run on five hits and five BB over six frames with three relievers putting up zeros.

The Twins attack consisted of seven hits and seven free passes with Joe Mauer going 2-3 with a pair of runs knocked in while Mitch Garver walked and singled and scored twice. The Twins have named right hander Kyle Gibson as Wednesday’s starter versus the visiting Astros. Gibson received a no decision last time out in a 4-2 win against Seattle with a pair of runs plated on seven hits in 4.1 frames.

Houston  are 42-17 in their last 59 overall and  are 42-17 in their last 59 games on grass and are 36-15 in their last 51 Wednesday games. Minnesota  are 15-7 in their last 22 home games and are 11-1 in Gibson’s last 12 starts and are 10-1 in Gibson’s last 11 starts on grass. Houston are 9-1 in the last 10 meetings and over is 9-4-2 in the last 15 meetings.

The Astros have generally bounced back from poor efforts but I’ll take a stab at the big odds on a decent Twins squad…
