Texas Rangers vs. Los Angeles Angels - 4/11/18 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The Texas Rangers are getting desperate for a victory after losing eight of their last 11 games. The Rangers have allowed 19 runs in this series and six or more runs in seven of their last 11 games. The Texas Rangers are just 1-9 this season when allowing more than one run. Offensively, Elvis Andrus leads the Rangers with 17 hits and five RBI while Nomar Mazara and Adrian Beltre have combined for 29 hits and four RBI. Matt Moore gets the ball, and he is 0-2 with a 11.05 ERA and seven strikeouts this season. Moore is 4-0 with a 1.78 ERA and 26 strikeouts in his career against the Angels.

The Angels are 4-0 in their last 4 during game 3 of a series, 6-1 in their last 7 vs. American League West and 5-1 in their last 6 overall. The Rangers are 1-5 in their last 6 during game 3 of a series, 1-4 in their last 5 Wednesday games and 6-16 in their last 22 overall. The over is 3-0-1 in the last 4 meetings in Texas.

Usually I shy away from picking pitchers making their major league debut, as you have no idea what to expect. However, the Angels have pounded the Rangers this series, are hitting the cover off the ball overall, and there's little reason to consider the Rangers in their current form. Also, Moore has given up nine earned runs in 7.1 innings this season and a .364 batting average, so it's not like a rookie can do much worse. Give me the Angels and the short price as a fade from the Rangers more than anything else. I want nothing to do with the Texas Rangers at the moment.
